Starting from the Roman times until this modern age, architectural wonders have dominated every century and every civilization.

Before being civilized, man used to live in primitive caves and other makeshift shelters. However, with the dawn of civilization, slowly man came to understand the importance of building places for them to stay and take shelter. Once they had taken care of that part they came to know what truly architecture meant. Over the years the houses became more and more big and with greater designs on them. This designing made the buildings stand out and these buildings later became great works of architecture.

When civilization further progressed man did not restrict himself to designing buildings only as homes. With religion playing a big role in civilization architectural buildings as churches and places of worship became very common. The 14th century is usually known as the period of Renaissance in architecture. During this period a number of architectural wonders were created which continue to mesmerize us even now.

One of the most important civilizations, well known for its architectural wonders, is the Roman civilization. It was the Romans who first really developed architecture and they gave them a unique style of their own. During the 14th century, there were many great architects who mesmerized the world with their creations. One of the most notable figures among them is Michelangelo.

Michelangelo was a true genius whose works in the church and the cathedral with glass stand out as the greatest architectural works throughout many civilizations. Over the years as we approached the new world there were some historic architectural buildings and works created and a testimony to that is the seven wonders of the modern world. Starting from the mammoth pyramids in Egypt to the Stonehenge to the Leaning tower of Pisa, each one of them bear testimony to the architectural greats present during the old times and each one of these buildings have a rich history behind them.

The pyramids in Egypt built as tombs for the Pharaohs are stupendous in size and even today incite awe in everyone around the world. However, as is his trait, man has never stopped trying to achieve architectural master pieces. Even in the modern age, governments are going all out to build the tallest buildings in the world. Moreover the recently created manmade Palm Islands in the Middle East really shows how far man can go to preserve his name in history as the builder of the greatest architectural wonder ever created.
